Beyoncé, full name – Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter, was
born on September 4, 1981 in Houston, Texas. She is an American singer,
songwriter and actress. She became known in the 1990s as the lead singer of the
R&B group Destiny’s Child, which was one of the best-selling girl groups in
history, and then started a very successful solo career. Beyoncé is one of the
best-selling music artists of all time. She has sold 60 million records with
Destiny's Child and over 100 million records worldwide as a solo artist. She
was recognized as the Top Certified Artist in America by the Recording Industry
Association of America. Beyoncé is also the most nominated woman in the award's
history and was listed among Time's 100 most influential people in the world.
She has won 23 Grammy Awards, 24 MTV Video Music Awards, including the Michael
Jackson Video Vanguard Award, the Legend Award at the World Music Awards, the
Billboard Millennium Award, and the Fashion Icon Award at the CFDA Awards.
